Katelyn J. Dougherty

Founding Attorney

Tampa Bay has consistently ranked in the top 10 best cities to start and grow a business (source) over the last year. With the startup scene heating up, skilled professionals are stepping in to support the growth. Founding Attorney of Harbour Business Law, Katelyn J. Dougherty, is one of them.

Katelyn Dougherty has a decade of experience in the legal industry. With an initial background in commercial real estate and land use, and extensive experience in corporate law, Katelyn’s main focus is entity formation, structuring and governance, contract drafting and negotiation, and intellectual property. Katelyn has a unique eye for business and marketing, which gives an added advantage to the clients of Harbour Business Law.

Originally from Maine, Katelyn moved to Tampa, FL, in late December of 2007 to attend the University of South Florida, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelors of Science in Criminology and Sociology. She later earned her Juris Doctorate from Barry University – Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, while also working as an Advanced Certified Paralegal, Trademark Specialist, and Office Manager for former employer Hunter Business Law. Katelyn later became the Firm Administrator of Hunter Business Law and maintained dual roles as an Associate Attorney and Firm Administrator so as to maintain her love of both business and law.

During her legal career and her time in the dual roles while at her former firm, Katelyn developed a passion for helping others start and grow their businesses, ultimately making their dreams come true. That, combined with the years of encouragement to start her own law firm and the desire to build something to call her own, made the establishment of Harbour Business Law a natural evolution given her passion for entrepreneurial ventures and the legal industry.

When Katelyn isn’t busy working with her incredible clients, she enjoys horseback riding, reading, and traveling nationally and internationally.

Katelyn is exceptional to work with. I know my business is in the best hands when she is taking care of it or providing me with information.

-Nicole Carver,

I found Katelyn to be exceptionally knowledgeable, trustworthy and professional. She is thorough and methodical with her work and her responsiveness to her clients is unmatched. I look forward to continuing our working relationship with Katelyn at Harbour Business Law.

-Jennifer Saxman,

Our corporation has worked with Katelyn for years to review client paperwork and maintain our annual reports. She’s quick to respond to emails and treats us kindly and ethically. I’m grateful to have her keeping track of our legal needs!

-Cassie Robertson,

Katelyn became my corporate attorney because of the professionalism and genuine care I’ve received from her since 2014. She was there at the very beginning; creating the “legal-ease” for my website, developing my contracts, and putting my fears to rest. She continues to have my best interests in mind and explains things so I fully understand my options. Her follow-up is timely and on point as well.

-Carrie Stiles,

The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) has utilized Ms. Dougherty’s services for a wide variety of trademark and copyright issues. She always makes the process incredibly easy and friendly for anyone, especially if you are not familiar with legal terminology, processes and more. Scope of work is always clearly communicated and timelines are strongly adhered to for all needs. We strongly recommend her services.

-James Zervios,

Working with Katelyn is a dream. Highly intelligent, organized, and always positive. It is easy to see Katelyn always looks out for the very best for her clients. She has been a wonderful partner over the years.

-Jim Perkins, Executive Vice President and Chief Relationship Officer of Corporate Creations (Vendor)

Katie was so easy to work with. As a nurse, starting my own business, contracts and agreements that are necessary to do my business, are very important. I wanted to make sure my current service agreement and contracts met all applicable compliance recommendations. We worked together on the language and she provided valuable feedback and information that needed to be included, from a legal standpoint. If you are starting your own business, I highly recommend her services.
